Super Mario Odyssey | Review


Nintendo has finally returned to the 3D Mario formula that pioneered the collect-a-thon genre in the late 1990s after merely twenty years. Super Mario Odyssey is undoubtedly a throwback to the game that ushered the industry into the third dimension and a love letter to the fans that looked on that game and others like it avidly, but also an evolution, as it answers the question of what would happen if Nintendo used what they had learned in the last twenty years to make the apex of sandbox Mario games. Have Nintendo remembered how they managed the transition twenty years ago, or does it falter to its own ambition?
